money limit

Postby margatuti » Sat Jun 26, 2010 7:43 pm

I was wondering if there was something wrong with the game when I noticed that my gold coin count was stuck at 750 in the minocentaur caves. But I did find that someone else mentioned a limit in a topic about pets. So is this right -- a limit of 750? Could someone explain this to me?

I'm guessing the theory is that you will spend money at certain points in the game -- and then have the opportunity to earn more before you need it again? Problem is that if you don't play the game in the order the game-maker expected -- or spend it in the way the game-maker expected -- it doesn't work out. :?

Check out this post by Daniel and the conversation in the same thread. He explains his reasoning behind the 750 money limit =)

Thanks for the link! I was doing searches using the word "money" instead of "gold". My bad!

You need experience to beat things at each level, however if you try to get the experience, you quickly run out of health. Since you don't have any money, you cannot replenish your health at the inn or with items. So, how are you supossed to get the experience when you cannot replenish your health or get any money?

Actually, this game doesn't really require that much if any grinding and you'll gain more experience by completing quests then you ever will fighting enemies. And, the game is designed to be beatable (though more difficult) at lower experience levels (see this thread for what I mean: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=951). As for health, it definitely can be troublesome at times, especially if you're low on money, but the INNs aren't that expensive and your characters in battle can heal each other pretty well without potions. That said, the various caves (ones with the re-spawning monsters) have gold that can be collected over and over again and if you can beat the creatures, you can sell the drops for money. Anyways, many people were having trouble because they were always maxing out their gold all the time and never really using it. If you're playing on hard (like I did) then it might take you a little while to build up a nice base of money. Until then, it's all about money management. Hope this info helps :D
